About This Service
A good narrator is half the book
The listener has only the voice. A narrator who suits your material makes the book feel immediate. One who does not will lose listeners within minutes. We invite narrators whose styles match your genre to audition with a passage from your book, and you choose.
A finished hour of audio typically corresponds to around 9,000 words of text, so an 80,000-word novel yields roughly nine hours. Recording, proofing, editing and mastering take several times as long as the listening time. Platforms such as ACX set specific requirements for loudness, noise floor and file format, and we master to them.

Listed widely
Audible, Apple Books and wide-distribution services.
Professional narrators charge per finished hour, and rates vary widely with experience. With editing and mastering added, the cost scales with length, so we quote once we know your word count.
ACX is Amazon’s marketplace for audiobooks. It connects authors with narrators and distributes to Audible, Amazon and Apple, with exclusive and non-exclusive terms that carry different royalties.
You can, particularly for memoir and non-fiction, where the author’s voice carries authority. It takes stamina and decent acoustics, and we advise honestly after hearing a sample.
ACX, for example, requires consistent loudness (RMS between −23 and −18 dB), peaks no higher than −3 dB, a noise floor below −60 dB and MP3 files at 192 kbps. We master to meet them.
Through ACX to Audible and Apple, or through wide-distribution services that reach libraries and other stores. Each has different royalties and exclusivity terms.
